Kevorkian: The owner of Galaxy hired me to play the drums while his DJ was playing and I didn’t know who his DJ was and I’d certainly never stepped foot into a major downtown underground club in Manhattan at that time.
Kevorkian: Yeah, actually that Rare Earth record you mention was one of his drum records and he had a lot of drum records that were fairly obscure, but he brought ’em in in a way that everybody loved it.
Kevorkian: It can only be the sampler and the ability for any turd to not know a note of music and to actually be able to crank out a track based on other people’s music.

Kevorkian is the guy you can refer your techno-phobic friend to, the one who still whines that electronic music "all sounds the same," "takes no musical skill," and "lacks human feeling."
Kevorkian established Body & SOUL in '96 to preserve this tradition of the DJ as navigator through uncharted waters.
When Kevorkian is spinning, you can hear right when the next song drops in, because each has its own structure -- intro, a peak, and an end.

When the members of Daft Punk were still in diapers, Kevorkian was gigging at New York's legendary Studio 54, the Loft and the Paradise Garage.
From early DJ gigs in the disco wonderland of late-'70s New York City to his current stint at Manhattan's Body and Soul, Kevorkian has been at dance music's epicenter — be it disco, new wave or house —; since its inception.
Although he's always worked in the underground or behind the scenes, Kevorkian is not averse to pop success: “It's always great for any creator to reach out and touch as many people as you can with your art.

Having started his career in renowed clubs such as the Paradise Garage, Kevorkian now tours the world, taking part in many music gatherings, such as the Sonar multimedia festival in Barcelona and its Brazilian equivalent, Sonar São Paulo, both of which took place in 2004.
Kevorkian, whose history in dance music stretches back to the disco era, nabbed two honors - for Remixer and DJ - so it was only fair that he gave the longest speech, in which he thanked everyone from Kraftwerk to David Mancuso to Larry Levan.

Not much in the way of explanation has been given, and Kevorkian won't comment on rumours suggesting that it may have something to do with a change of management at the club.
Kevorkian intends to start integrating it into his DJ sets to help him re-combine elements of his favourite records in new ways.

Blue Six’s Beautiful Tomorrow is the first full-length artist album for the acclaimed New York/San Francisco based Naked Music, following a slew of successful 12-inch singles and CD compilations that have been revered as much for their enticing artwork as for their sexy grooves.
The project sprung out of a conversation Jay Denes had with friend François Kevorkian, himself a legendary dance music producer and the proprietor of his own label Wave Music.
Inspired by Kevorkian to make an album that defied convention, Denes returned to the studio, emerging with Blue Six - a sound that makes no compromises to outside pressures yet is anything but alienating.

Twenty-plus years ago, while doing AandR for Prelude Records and DJing at New York City’s Oubliettes disco, François Kevorkian invented the disco dub mix, which is drawn, as the name implies, from the dub mixes done by Jamaican reggae sound men.
Kevorkian’s dub mixes of D Train’s "Keep On" and Sharon Redd’s "Can You Handle It" also mirrored the turntable work then being done live by DJ Larry Levan at the legendary Paradise Garage.
On this two-disc set, you’ll find the Kevorkian sound, in his selection and reworking of disco classics from the era of his greatest creativity, songs featuring a deep, dark, often tribal rhythm and voices drenched in sexual heat and ecstasy.

Mr Kevorkian's taste is impeccable so what's on offer is excellent, even if the canvas is just a little too broad and the tracks don't so much flow as remain individual examples of specific styles.
