Battle of Beecher Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Beecher Island (September 17–September 19, 1868), also known as the Battle of Arikaree Fork, was an armed conflict between elements of the United States Army and several of the Plains Indian tribes.
Beecher Island on the Arikaree River, Colorado was named for Lieutenant Fredrick H. Beecher (nephew of Henry Ward Beecher, a veteran of the Battle of Gettysburg), one of the key leaders of the engagement who was killed during the battle.
In August of that year, General Philip Sheridan, in command of the Department of Missouri, was asked by acting Governor Frank Hall of Colorado for assistance.

"Political Poet"--An Essay on John Beecher by Frank Adams
Beecher seemed to know instinctively that poetry was not just for the critics, but that people used it in one way or another every day not to flatter but to survive, to express the uncommon or mysterious in their own, often tragic, lives.
Beecher had spent several years researching the populist movement in the upper Midwest, particularly those rebellious men and women who developed the Grange and People's Party in the late-1800s.
Beecher's poetry represents a tradition at odds with the prevailing styles in the United States between the great wars.

The Myth of the Six Million -- Was Anne Frank's Diary a Hoax?
Frank, in Switzerland, has promised to pay to his race-kin, Meyer Levin, not less than $50,000 because he had used the dialogue of Author Levin just as it was and "implanted" it in the diary as being his daughter's intellectual work.
Yet it is to be noted that both Otto Frank and his accuser Meyer Levin, are Jewish, so a similar charge would hardly be applicable in pursuing this subject to an honest conclusion, in fairness to all.
Frank used the work of Meyer Levin to present to the world what we have been led to believe is the literary work of his daughter, wholly or in part, then the truth should be exposed.

LitKicks: The Irony of John Beecher
Beecher wrote verse that slammed the foundations of the American consciousness about our own society, and as a result suffered strong social consequences personally, like being “fllisted” by the House Un-American Activities Committee and losing various teaching jobs on various occasions.
Beecher’s “Report to the Stockholders” (published in 1925) is a nine-part poem that carries a double meaning in each anecdotal section, while piling on examples of unfairness in the work environment.
The poem is certainly drawn from Beecher’s own experiences as a worker in steel mills, as the son of an executive for U.S. Steel, and as a government social worker helping poor farmers.
