Frank was all too happy to meet with me. In fact, this would be his second ever interview (the last was well over 15 years ago).
Frank was there when the greats were nobodies; he was one of them rubbing elbows with the likes of Gardner Fox, Dick Ayers and Dick Giordano and struggled just like the rest of them, but with his incredible talents there was always work for him to pencil and ink and he made a living.

Bolle drew Stan Drake's 'The Heart of Juliet Jones' for King Features Syndicate from 1984 to 1999, as well as 'Winnie Winkle', originally created by Martin Branner, for twenty years.

Join Peter Benson of The Nature Conservancy for a snowshoe tour of the Frank Bolles Nature Reserve in Chocorua on Saturday February 8.
Frank Bolles penned a classic natural history of the reserve and the surrounding region in the 1890’s titled At The North of the Bearcamp Water.

He later used the same style in a series of graphic novels about a character named Kelly Green — but in 1984, when he began drawing Blondie, he proved himself capable of a radically different look.
