  Petticoat Junction - Frank Cady Biography
Frank Cady was born and raised in Susanville, California in 1915, and although he appeared in a few high school plays, he worked after school and summers on Susanville's leading weekly newspaper, The Lassen (County) Advocate.
Frank has busied himself with his private business interests and found relaxation and recreation in writing for the local newspaper, hiking in the Swiss Alps, and taking off whenever asked to play in his beloved celebrity golf tournaments in cities throughout the country.
Frank and Shirley moved to Oregon in September of 1991, primarily to be nearer their daughter, Catherine, who lives in Olympia, Washington.

Frank Cady was born on September 8, 1915 in Susanville, California.
Cady played Doc Williams on The Ozzie and Harriet Show for 12 years prior to taking the role he's probably best known for Sam Drucker on Green Acres.
Cady received an EMMY® nomination for work in an ABC-TV Weekend Special called Winged Colt, and his resume reads like a Who's Who of Hollywood at its best, with appearances in movies such as The Asphalt Jungle (1950), Hearts of the West (1975), and Rear Window (1954).

Tiring of academia, Cady settled on the idea of becoming a radio announcer and landed a job at KGDM in Stockton California.
In 1943, Cady was drafted into the army and sent to Europe, where he spent the better part of World War Two writing news stories for the army’s public relations department.
Cady’s final appearance as Hooterville’s "Sam Drucker" was in the 1990 TV movie Return To Green Acres, but as with so many remakes, he felt it wasn’t as good as the original.

This movie took home an Oscar for it's special effects and it's packed with some good actors, Richard Derr, Barbara Rush, a very young Stuart Whitman and Frank Cady who later went on to play 'Sam Drucker' in Pettycoat Juction and Green Acres.
I don't know who the guy was who played the role Dr. Hendron, but he would later go on to play on Mr.Ed as Wilburs pesty next door neighbor, and the guy who played the ruthless industry tycoon Mr.Stanton, does a very good job in the part.
You also have Frank Cady, looking very young yet still very bald, who went on to greater fame in Green Acres.

Just an incredible cast makes this film worth watching and Huston's taut direction keep it exciting all the way to the end.
Surprisingly adult for the time in it's frank depictions of the characters foibles and weaknesses---particularly Jaffe's (Doc) eye for young girls.
Monroe has two extended and very telling scenes with Calhern and Hagen is wonderful as the uneducated hard luck Doll.
