  Frank Lubin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frank John Lubin (Lithuanian: Pranas Lubinas; 1910 January 7 – 1999 July 8) was a basketball player.
Lubin was born in East side of Los Angeles to a family of Lithuanian immigrants.
Lubin became an Olympic champion with the US team in 1936 in Berlin, and a European champion with the Lithuanian team in 1937 in Riga and again in 1939 in Kaunas.

Frank Lubin, captain of the U.S. Olympic basketball team that won the first gold medal in the sport in 1936, has died.
Lubin's widow, Mary Agnes, said she met Lubin when he went to play basketball in her hometown of Wichita, Kan., where she worked in the telegraph office.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Lubin is survived by a son, John; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The concept of the Olympic Village that debuted in California during the 1932 Olympics was adopted as the solution to housing athletes competing in the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin.
Frank Wykoff gained six meters during anchor lap to bring the USA 400 meter relay team consisting of Jesse Owens, Ralph Metcalfe, Foy Draper, and himself to a record breaking victory at the Olympics held in Berlin on August 9, 1936.
