Rejection, food, coffee, girls, fishing, and food, were the main forces that drove this cross section of spastic rejects to become the band we know as the Descendents.
Frank had disappeared to Oregon, but Ray, Milo and Tony wanted back in the band, so Ray switched back to guitar, and the Descendents recorded "I Don't Want To Grow Up".
Tony was unable to tour with them, so he was replaced by Doug Carrion for the 3 tours that followed.

The long forgotten trio lineup of Frank Navetta, Tony Lombardo, and myself honed the band's sound into the coffee'd out blend of rock-surf-pop-punk music that it is. It's hard to define musical influences, but if I had to narrow it down to 2 things, they would be The Last, and my friend Pat McCuistion.

Established by Mia Jacobs, Frank Navetta and Tom McDonald the group was organized "to create opportunities for children." With perhaps 100 people in attendance, the evening was to provide area residents with their second opportunity to meet all the Board of Education candidates.
Frank Navetta then warmed up the audience, explaining how they were "now going to review the cumulative impressions of the Board of Education candidates, observed at the League of Women Voters' meet the candidate night of a few weeks ago." [Oh, Oh!
Then Navetta said to his class, "Shall we now look at these names and rate them from 0 through 5." But the audience was really getting into this thing now and one woman said, "Forget that rating stuff.

 Descendents
Formed in 1979, the Descendents' first lineup consisted of vocalist/guitarist Frank Navetta, vocalist/bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson; initially sporting an edgy power-pop sound inspired by the Buzzcocks, the group issued a debut single, "Ride the Wild," and then promptly vanished from sight.
When the Descendents resurfaced in 1981, they were a four-piece fronted by vocalist Milo Auckerman, a beloved figure within the hardcore community who infused the group's identity with both unmitigated teen angst and a healthy dose of goofball humor.
A year later, the group issued their debut LP, Milo Goes to College; despite the considerable levity of tracks like "Bikeage" and "Suburban Home," the title was no joke -- Auckerman was indeed headed off to study biochemistry, and when Stevenson joined the ranks of Black Flag, the Descendents went on sabbatical.

Tony obviously has always been like a real part of … you know, we've got the band and we've got, like, the extended family, you know, and those guys are part of the extended family.
And, you know, also being kind of the guys that I started the band with in the beginning, we thought it would be fun to just have them come out and play a little, but there wasn't a lot of thought to it.
Again it wasn't like, 'Well, no, let's keep Ray and Doug out of it', but it was more like, no, it's our… we wanted it to be a band, we wanted it to be a band, that's what we are, this is the current band.
