The new bridge would connect eastern Jefferson County with Indiana north of Utica, and south of River Ridge Commerce Center, the former Indiana Army Ammunition Plant.

Birch Bayh in town to stump for Kernan
Bayh’s first point: Kernan bucked the conventional wisdom early after succeeding Gov. Frank OBannon on OBannon’s death in September 2003, when he appointed Kathy Davis his lieutenant governor.
Kernan, Bayh said, has long been an advocate for the steel industry, and when President Bush was still considering the repeal of his three-year schedule of tariffs—tariffs which Daniels as OMB Director opposed from the get-go—Kernan wrote him a letter urging him, unsuccessfully, to retain them.
Bayh, a member of the “Right Track Team” assembled to help Kernan fend off a strong challenge from Republican Mitch Daniels, has been stumping the state since Oct. 12.
