  Rizzo
As surely as he waded into brawls as a schoolboy or onto crime scenes as a police officer, Frank Rizzo thrust himself into the public discourse, forging for himself the image of an authority figure who would not only give voice to those disappearing virtues but make them real.
By 1991, local GOP leaders would learn the same lesson that the Democrats had learned twenty years earlier and police commissioners had learned forty years earlier: if you invite Frank Rizzo onto the stage, you better be prepared for him to take over the show.
Frank Rizzo knew what a strong leader was like and so did his supporters: a strong leader is someone like your father, who speaks with authority and confidence and clarity.

Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

The film's droll humor, relatively frank sexuality, satirical view of the upper middle class, and observation of a "troubled" younger generation made it a surprise smash.
In 1992 he put a new slant on Ratso Rizzo as the title character in Hero then played a heroic army medical researcher in Outbreak (1995).
