 STIV BATORS: Biography
After Dead Boys fell apart in March 1979, Stiv did a few demos in Cleveland with Frank Secich (ex- Blue Ash guitarist) - a guy who he grew up with in Youngstown - and in April 1979 they moved to Los Angeles.
Stiv's main reason for moving to L.A. was to get rid off his image as the Dead Boys front man. He wanted to be respected as a singer and musician and he had a strong vision of the music he wanted to make next.
His band on that album included Frank Secich (bass), David Quinton (drums) and Georgie Harrison (guitar) and with that line-up they did some gigs in L.A. "Disconnected" was the only official solo album Stiv ever completed.

These mess up the flow and solidity of the album a bit, but the extra tracks are good archival material and essential for a more in-depth look from someone so influential.
These tracks were donated from band member Frank Secich, as well as the lengthy history lesson liner notes (not meant as sarcasm theyre definitely worth the read and purchase).
The liner notes were written at the time of the re-release (2004) and include follow-ups on the other band members and those involved in the process.

Despite really entertaining liner notes written by band member Frank Secich, the songs on the disc aren't very distinctive..
Frank Secich emphasizes how good the band Stiv used on these recordings was, but technique doesn't amount to much without inspiration.
In the end none of these songs have the passion or spirit that Stiv communicated so well as a singer in Dead Boys.

Stiv Bators: L.A. Confidential - PopMatters Music Review
One might be surprised to learn that the man who wrote "I Need Lunch" was also a pure power popper, but as the tracks on the Bators Bomp collection L.A. Confidential prove, Bators was exactly that.
As the you-are-there liner note recollections, penned by the likes of Frank Secich (Bators' frequent collaborator; the two of them co-produced under the name "The Gutter Twins"), drummer Dave Quinton, and Shaw (before his death last year), recount, Bators loved '60s pop and garage as much as he loved '70s punk.
The liner notes claim this was Bators' first attempt at singing the song -- without having first learned the lyrics.

Infidels are from Ohio and in the 80`s worked with Blue Ash(and Dead Boy and Stiv Bators sideman), Frank Secich (Blue Ash will have a 2 CD retrospective released on Not Lame in Spring 2004, btw) and released two outstanding records, at the time.
In 2003, they returned with this even better album---recorded for fun, old time or a legitimate stab at rebirth, it matter not---the material is filled with passion and enough pumping pop spirit to recall old faves like Gin Blossoms(a lot) and Dada as well as Not Lame faves like Blue Cartoon(and Greenberry Woods in parts).

FS: Well, you know we were a three piece band with a singer; Jim (Kendzor) didn't play much guitar live, so we all played a lot to make the sound bigger live.
Secich also notes that he was in conversation with Greg Shaw at that time about their new work: no word on what's happened to that project since Shaw's untimely death.
