The project to construct the reservoirs and pipelines was authorised by the Birmingham Corporation Water Act of 1892.
Nowadays Frankley Reservoir lies wholly within the West Midlands but as the old Ordnance Survey (6 inches to one mile) map above clearly shows the boundary between Birmingham and Worcestershire used to run right through the middle of the works.

We started with pomp and ceremony, but soon found that there were problems with city departments who were not aware of the role of a parish council.
The flood prevention team set up by the city has left Frankley the poor relation, for we are no nearer getting the major sewer replacement program and the upgrade of drains to a standard that can be adopted.
So our flood co-ordinators will still have sleepless nights, for it is they who will still be in the front line to prevent flooding by monitoring the river for dumping in the water course.

I'm sure the parish council will have some say in this matter, but I urge everyone living in the Frankley area to lobby the local councilors and the local MP, to make them aware that, as residents we would like to see more free facilities available more centrally for our children.
Unless we provide places for our children to play when they want, not just through organised groups for 1-2 hrs a week, then the crime rate and instances of drug related crime will sky rocket.
