Franklin (television series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Franklin is a Canadian children's television series, based on a series of books by Brenda Clark (illustrator) and Paulette Bourgeois (writer).
Franklin's friends and his parents generally help to bring out the best in him and he's also now a big brother (something he often said he wanted to be.) He takes good care of his pet goldfish, Goldie, and also has a stuffed dog named Sam who, despite growing older, he still hangs onto.
She is born when Franklin and his friends are still in kindergarten, yet in the sixth season and Back to School with Franklin, she behaves at the physical and emotional level of a three-to-four year old, yet Franklin and his friends are only in first grade.

Franklin's father, Josiah Franklin, was born at Ecton, Northamptonshire, England on December 23 1657, the son of Thomas Franklin, a flsmith and farmer, and Jane White.
Franklin was initiated into the local Freemason lodge in 1730-1731, and became grand master in 1735, indicating his rapid rise to prominence in Philadelphia.
Franklin's experiment was not written up until Joseph Priestley's 1767 History and Present Status of Electricity; the evidence shows that Franklin was insulated (not in a conducting path, as he would have been in danger of electrocution in the event of a lightning strike).

 Anthology Drama
Anthology drama was an early American television series format or genre in which each episode was a discrete story/play rather than a weekly return to the same setting, characters, and stars.
In the history of American television the anthology dramas that were broadcast live from New York are often considered the epitome of the genre and of television's "golden age" of the 1950s.
Television writers and original television dramas soon appeared, however, and writers as well as critics and audiences recognized the potential power of small-scale, intimate drama created for the new medium.

Thinking children (and their parents) who have met the "original" Franklin and his friends in the Bourgeois/Clark books will quickly recognize that these adapted-from-TV books are but marginal stand-ins for the original Bourgeois/Clark collaborations.
In particular, the TV books' illustrations are two-dimensional renderings of the rich characterizations of Franklin, his family, and friends that were created by Clark.
While Franklin is obviously the lead "actor" in the TV series, he is not always necessarily front and centre.

Physics Today October 2003 - Benjamin Franklin, Civic Scientist
Franklin would want us to address the conundrum that, at a time when science is so integral to society, government policy, and world affairs, scientists are rarely called to the table when the big decisions are made.
Franklin would suggest that scientists could benefit from a little Communications 101, that is, lessons in how to communicate effectively with politicians and the general public about the essentials of science, without the esoteric details.
Franklin would urge us to put a human face on science, to make it clear that a career in science is an option for boys and girls from every community and cultural background.
