As I travel from place to place in Franklin County, I often marvel at the variety of geological features I see: deep canyons and coulees, gravel mounds, a beautiful waterfall, basalt rock outcroppings, river valleys, and flat, fertile farmlands.
In this report, I would like to describe some of the unusual features found in Franklin County, look at the currently accepted theory of their origins, and then briefly evaluate that geological theory in light of the evidence available.
