Franz Josef Strauß - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Franz Josef Strauß (pronounced Strauss /ʃtraʊs/) (September 6, 1915– October 3, 1988) was a German politician (CSU) and long-time minister-president of the state of Bavaria.
Born as Franz Strauß in Munich as the second child of a butcher, Strauß studied germanistics, history and economics at the University of Munich from 1935 to 1939 where he had to become a member of the NSDStB-Nationalsozialistischen Studentenbund or Nazi Students Association as this was mandatory for students at that time.
Strauß was appointed minister of the treasury again in 1966, in the cabinet of Kurt Georg Kiesinger.

Johann Strauss II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His brothers Josef Strauss and Eduard Strauss were also composers; but Johann II is the most famous of the family.
The first major appointment for the young composer would be his award of the honorary position of "Kapellmeister of the 2nd Vienna Citizen's Regiment" which was left vacant following Josef Lanner's death two years before.
Although the most sought-after composer of dance music was Johann Strauss II in the 1860s to the 1890s, stiff competition was present in the form of Karl Michael Ziehrer and Emile Waldteufel whom the latter was commanding in his position in Paris.

In post-war times Diehl represented a prototype of Bavarian companies whose success was based on the close political linkages with the CSU under Franz-Josef Strau§, the influential one-time minister of defence (Lock/Vo§ 1994 p.346).
There can be little doubt that Diehl having sold already part of its military manufacturing to Rheinmetall and a few other marginal players will come under pressure to sell their military units or even simply exit from military manufacturing.
Diehl, a Bavarian military manufacturer whose ascension falls into the Strau§ era, like other German medium-sized military suppliers, had successfully diversified into civilian niche markets before the military markets collapsed.

Munich International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Munich International Airport (IATA: MUC, ICAO: EDDM), officially named Franz Josef Strauss International Airport (German: Flughafen München-Franz-Josef-Strauß) is located 28 km northeast of Munich, Germany, and is a hub for Lufthansa and Star Alliance partner airlines.
The airport was named after Franz Josef Strauss, a post World War II German conservative politician who was a member of the Nazi party and a Officer in the Wehrmacht during the war, and who, later on, played an important role in German politics, then representing democratic, albeit strongly conservative values and "Bavaria as such".
As Lufthansa's home base at Frankfurt International Airport is heavily saturated with traffic and has capacity limits, cities with large frequencies are served through Munich Franz Josef Strauss airport as well as Frankfurt International.

Franz Josef Strauss (German: Strauß /ʃtraʊs/) (September 6, 1915 - October 3, 1988) was a German politician (CSU) and long-time minister-president of the state of Bavaria.
For some strange reason in 1971 Franz Josef Strauss played along with the prophetic interest shown in him as Herbert W. Armstrong recalled in a 1983 letter: "I entertained him at dinner in my home in Pasadena, and he spoke to the faculty and students of Ambassador College.
Munich's airport was named after him in 1992 (see Franz Josef Strauss International Airport).
