Archer described another incident of discrimination when she and her husband had to sit upstairs in what she believes was the Fox theater in downtown Tucson when they were first stationed here.
Archer's mind is when her husband was sent to Texas to pick up another airman that was AWOL and Sgt. Archer was told that he couldn't sit in the same train car with his White prisoner.

Fred Archer, the greatest and most tragic of all the Victorian jockeys, built Pegasus Stables, formerly known as Falmouth Lodge, in 1884.
By all accounts, Archer was a rather serious fellow but was revered as the most fearless and powerful jockey of his time.
Following the death of Fred Archer, Falmouth Stables, as it was called, was the private stables of Sir John Blundell Maple, a Member of Parliament whose fortune came from his furniture emporium in London.

Archer said later, "Due to segregation most of us in the 99th didn't go to tech-school; tech-school was brought to us." These airmen were then sent to Tuskegee Airfield and became the support crew for the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African Americans to train as Army Air Corps pilots.
Fred kept himself busy by becoming involved with the Model Cities Program, and in 1978 he was made the first Director of the "A" Mountain Neighborhood Center, an institution that "was his heart." He designed the initial plans for the entire center, but didn't put his name on them.
Archer was a member of Tucson's Model Cities policy board, which decided how to spend $52 million in federal funds from 1970 to 1975.
