Pfeffer's significant contribution to baseball is that he was the first infielder to cut off a catcher's throw to second base on a double-steal attempt and cut down the runner at the plate.
The two managers are reinstated before the end of the year, but Pfeffer must wait until the end of February 1895 before he is welcomed back into the fold.

According to a family genealogy that my great Aunt prepared, Maccabe immigrated from Switzerland with a cousin, "A. Dotta," and possibly one other cousin.
As a side note (thought I don't think this connects) Maccabe met Margaretha Pfeffer (daughter or Fred Pfeffer and Mary Kuhn) on the ship coming to America, and my aunt indicated that Maccabe (traveling with the Dotta's) disembarked in New York before going to Ohio.
Margaretha stayed in New York until Maccabe had settled the farm, at which time he returned to NY, married her, and brought her back to Ohio.
