	Fred Zinn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Friedrich Wilhelm "Fred" Zinn of Battle Creek, Michigan, was one of the volunteer American aviators who flew with the French ArmÃ©e de l'Air in World War I.
		Zinn was visiting France in August 1914 and joined the French Foreign Legion shortly after the outbreak of World War I. He served on the Western Front from August 24, 1914, to February 1, 1916, when he was wounded for the second time.
		Zinn returned to the United States after the war and continued flying, including a trip to San Francisco where his biplane was required to fly only over the waters of San Francisco Bay due to a perceived danger to citizens if it traveled over land.

		While I think that the Zinn book (Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance) is pretty good, for most people this book will be much better.
		His procedure was too complicated, his description confusing, and he didn't even talk about the obvious trick to setting the low gear position on the rear derailleur.
		I'll hang on the the Zinn book for reference (you can't own too many reference books), but Complete Bike Maintenance will be the first book I will grab when heading out to work on my bike.

		I found the sections on derailleur adjustments and wheel bearing replacements to be very good, as these are the things I do on a regular basis.
		I also have "zinn and the art of mountain bike maintenance" which seems to get a lot of 5* reviews, but in my honest opinion, this book is better as it covers a smaller more popular range of components (maybe more UK specific?) The text is also more precise and the diagrams clearer.
		This was a really strange feeling, and reduced the effectiveness of the book for me. That aside, there is still some value in the suggested routines and the tables indicating the tools and skill required in order to carry out a certain task.

		Its almost 700 pages and a very good manual (better than Zinn's book).
