Frederick Hitch was born in Gloucestershire in 1855 and joined the 2nd Battalion of the 24th Regiment - later the South Wales Borderers - not long before the outbreak of war in South Africa.
Shortly afterwards, Frederick Hitch became a cab proprietor and it was reported in 'The Times' of London at a later date that Cecil Rhodes - presumably on his last visit to Britain - called to see him at the offices of the Cabdrivers' Union.

Frederick Hitch was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
On 22 and 23 January 1879 at Rorke's Drift, Natal, South Africa, Private Hitch and another man (William Wilson Allen) kept communication with the hospital open, despite being severely wounded.
Their determined conduct enabled the patients to be withdrawn from the hospital, and when incapacitated by their wounds from fighting, they continued, as soon as their wounds were dressed, to serve out ammunition to their comrades during the night.

It could have been remastered to better effect, and the continuing use of mono sound in such comparatively recent films always puzzles me. Hitch must have had his reasons, but this is one film where the lack of stereo sound is noticed, as the overall soundscape is fairly flat sounding.
Unimaginative in its presentation, it adds very little if anything to the understanding of the film, since Hitch was famed for storyboarding a film to death prior to the actual shoot.

I was going to install a store bought one then I noticed it only attached in 6 places, were the OEM one attached in 11 places including the center of the Jeep...it is a very stable hitch..
The OEM hitch has long rails, the after market one has steel squares that have to be place exactly over the pre-drilled holes.
I have a friend that bought a hidden hitch for his grand cherokee and when he would go to tow large boats the entiire frame of the jeep would flex.

I have "no Axe to grind" with the Hensley as it is a fine hitch, but I wish the non-owners of Pullrites would get the facts straight rather than just repeat something they have heard elsewhere regarding hitch compatibility between vehicles...
The pullrite is a great hitch and is the Hensley, but over time as frames change the pullrite my or may not transfer.
Yes there may be chance that 15 years in the future the hitch will not transfer to my new vehicle, but by that time, it will probably be so rusted out from the salty Chicago roads that it will be a non-issue...

I'm very confused -- Leonard's family (daughters and sons) have a fairly long history in NC and I believe I have something that reported Leonard to be buried in NC (there's a Barberick cemetery in Cabarrus County).
Another hitch in the theory of Leonard and Christian being brothers is why didn't Frederick live with his uncle after he was orphaned.
Their is an entire line of Barberick's that were in St. Louis when Frederick came to Gasconade County that are no relation.

I had to go to a local RV dealer to get a new hitch ball with the correct shank and while I was there, the shop guy proceeded to tell me I had the hitch incorrectly installed.
As previously mentioned, if you do it yourself you'll have to find a way to get the ball mounted on the hitch, as you won't be able to do it the "normal" way.
I took my hitch head and ball to a truck stop service garage and got them to mount the ball.
