Lowy does believe, however, that the pro-Palestinians have been the principal “aggressors.” Lowy said the administration would like to see the radicals out of office, but he said for it to favour one slate over others “would be the kiss of death, because they would be seen as lackeys of the administration.”
Lowy, who is Jewish and described himself as having “strong pro-Zionist leanings,” said he can’t allow his personal feelings to affect his job as rector.

Later that afternoon, Lowy sent a letter to Green, saying that was not his intention at all and that his position on the matter was being misrepresented.
Lowy said that the purpose of the letter was simply to inform the minister of the fraud situation, and that the minister's staff had inquired on the issue after reading articles about the fraud in The Gazette and La Presse.
Lowy added that the letter has been the only communication from the school to the ministry about the issue, and that the ministry has not inquired further.

Frederick Lowy’s alma mater, McGill, paid tribute to his achievements in bioethics, psychiatry and academic administration yesterday.
Concordia’s Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Frederick Lowy, was given an honorary degree yesterday afternoon by his alma mater, McGill University.
Lowy remembers how psychiatrists were abandoning the heavy use of electroshock therapy and such methods as insulin-induced coma, and turning to more effective scientifically derived treatments.

Their attack started in earnest on August 20th when the university rector, Dr. Frederick Lowy, expelled Tom Keefer and Laith Marouf, two student representatives and outspoken activists.
After university security stormed illegally into the CSU offices, it was alleged that Marouf assaulted a security guard and Keefer uttered a death threat, which, in a bizarre twist, was subsequently changed to a charge of assault.

The university’s Board of Governors has approved a motion to continue the term of office of Rector Frederick Lowy until May 2005, allowing him to complete a full second five-year term.
The decision was made on the basis of discussions in the Faculty Councils, a strong consensus in the senior administration and the recommendation of the Board’s own executive committee.
They were reassured by Vice-Rector Services Michael Di Grappa and Chief Financial Officer Larry English that the renovations would begin as soon as the move to the Loyola Science Complex was done, and that there were strong funding possibilities from the internal capital renovations budget and also funding opportunities with the federal government.

The front-page article, which Concordia rector Frederick Lowy this week called "misleading" and "grossly premature," listed dozens of programs that would supposedly be dropped, cut or reduced.
Insisting that "nothing has been decided," Lowy said that a report called "Our Immediate Future," on which the story was based, was presented at a meeting of Concordia's Senate last week.
Lowy says that has now been postponed to May 30 to allow faculties and departments more time to respond to the report.
