Sumaye said this when responding to questions from journalists during a question and answer session, which was recorded by Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam (RTD) yesterday.
Sumaye was specifically responding to a question asked by the Acting Director of RTD, Eda Sanga, who had wanted to know whether the government would reduce the retirement age for public servants from 60 to 50 years in view of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Sumaye said he had extended the seven days’ order given to Tanga regional administration to implement his directive on preparing a strategy for reducing drop-out cases in primary schools.

DAR ES SALAAM, May 30 (AFP) - Tanzanian Prime Minister Frederick Sumaye on Thursday exhorted African countries to work together to curb illicit circulation and trade in small firearms.
Sumaye pointed out that if the continent was to succeed in combating the problems of illegal possession of firearms, countries must work together to stop the wars.
He said that although illegal circulation and use of firearms had not reached alarming proportions in Tanzania, the penetration of such weapons in some western regions -- especially Kigoma, Kagera and Rukwa -- was of serious concern.

The premier told a visiting Irish delegation who paid him a courtesy call at his office that the Tanzanian government is forced to use extra resources to assist the communities who live with the refugees.
