Free Jaffa Nation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jaffa Resistance and the destruction of the System Lords gives birth to the Free Jaffa Nation, and the planet Dakara is made the capital of the new nation.
The Jaffa Nation is the product of years of resistance; the uprising of the Sodan in about 3000 BC marks the first stirring of revolt among the Jaffa.
The nation was initially committed to resisting the spread of Origin and its attendant Priors; most Jaffa were horrified at the idea of worshipping false gods once more, as the resistance of the Jaffa of Kallana showed ("Beachhead").

 Miscellany - Free Jaffa Nation
Threads - As a free nation of Jaffa emerges, Teal'c and Bra'tac are honored for their bravery in battle and their long-time strife to bring free Jaffa together.
His political opponents include Teal'c and Bra'tac, who believe the Free Jaffa Nation should be democratic in governance, rather than ruled by a High Council where votes are appropriated to representatives based on military assets.
The young nation includes at least two rival factions vying for power, and is presently commanded by Gerak, a stern Jaffa warrior who has manipulated the High Council into giving him power.

 Jaffa on Equality, Democracy, Morality
Jaffa himself recognizes almost the identical point: "A community of Christians (or of a particular denomination of Christians) may ask themselves whether, in compelling non-Christians (or Christians of another denomination) to join their church, they are violating the golden rule not to do unto others what they would not have others do to them.
Jaffa states his argument for equality perhaps most fully here: "'That all men are created equal' arises from our experience of a class of beings called 'men.' We abstract from the experience of a number of individual human beings the common noun 'man'....
Jaffa thus intends his interpretation of Biblical religion to accomplish for the modern world what belief in the city's gods did for the ancient: obedience by the people to the proper system of law.

 Tolok - StargateWiki
He was formerly in the service of Heru'ur (based on his forehead tattoo) and was instrumental in leading the battle for Dakara which saw the Jaffa finally obtain their freedom from the Goa'uld.
Dakara was deep within Ba'al's territory and was considered sacred to the Jaffa because that is where the first implantation ceremony was conducted which created the first Jaffa, but because Ba'al had dispatched the majority of his fleet, there were very few ships guarding the planet.
He led a portion of the Rebel Jaffa fleet into hiding behind the moon of Dakara so that there would be Rebel Jaffa left to fight another day in case the battle with Ba'al's fleet did not go well.

Jaffa!" But even as he shouted the warning into the radio, it was too late.
The Jaffa in the courtyard started to pour out, and into the palace, and Teal'c used the fin of the staff's butt to sever the head from the Goa'uld's still twitching body.

With the planet of Dakara and the Ancient weapon now in the hands of the Free Jaffa, Anubis plans to reconquer the planet and, thanks to Baal's modifications to the stargate, use the Ancient weapon to destroy all life in the galaxy at once.
The victory has united the Free Jaffa at Dakara as never before, and they now agree to destroy the weapon immediately.

The issue was tossed to the United Nations, which inherited the authority by which Britain, as the Mandatory power, had ruled Palestine (supposedly) for the League of Nations.
The solution was an intermediate level of identity, between religion and nationality, called "peoplehood." Jews everywhere thus belonged to the Jewish People, and have the right to immigrate to Israel and immediately assume Israeli citizenship and the benefits of Israeli social services, which educate and place Jewish immigrants.

Had they felt free to vote according to what they believe is best for the nation, the Gaza plan would have received 61 votes (out of 120) at most, or possibly even 60 or less.
Instead of being free to vote according to what they believe is right and best for Israel, they voted under duress: oppose the plan, lose their cabinet jobs; support the plan, keep their cabinet jobs.
In many countries, a national referendum requires approval by what is called a "special majority," since a simple majority could mean one side winning by the slimmest of margins, leaving the nation badly polarized.

Human Events: A new birth of freedom
Jaffa sets out to explain why Lincoln thought that his struggles against slavery and for the Union and free elections were really one-and-the-same.
In Crisis, Jaffa emphasized Lincoln's magnanimity, his nature as a great-souled man. At the same time, Jaffa highlighted the paradox that a nation dedicated to the principle of human equality depended for its survival on human inequality, on political founders (like George Washington) and saviors (above all, Lincoln) defined by heroic qualities-of virtue and soul.
Jaffa devotes some of his best pages to proving that equality and the social compact (he seldom uses the term "social contract" in this book) were regarded by Lincoln and the founders as essentially the same idea.

This group, many of whom were infused with socialist ideals, established the first kibbutz, Degania, in 1909 and formed self defense organizations, such as Hashomer, to counter increasing Arab hostility and theft of property.
