	FRR: Historical Background, Independence
		n March 13, 3034, Haakon Magnusson, a Tyr political leader, declared the creation of the Free Rasalhague Republic, affirmed its independence from either the Draconis Combine or the Lyran Commonwealth, and announced that he would be its Elected Prince.
		Ironically, the FRR later had to hire more mercenaries, some of whom made huge demands on the government, to combat growing pirate activity on the Republic's border with the Periphery and later, the Clan threat.
		During these years of independence Rasalhague has acquired much of it's technological know-how, partly thanks to the Even Scale policy and assistance of it's close neighbours.
