RMS is moderately famous for the establishment of the Free Software Foundation, and GNU (GNU's Not Usable) Software.
Software patents could be completely eliminated, and with the development of digitial communication, there is no reason why Congress shouldn't simply repeal all of Title 17 and do away with all copyrights.

DGS Software, Inc. - Lyrics, Version 1   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Lyrics is a software program which scrolls a display of song lyrics shown through a projector attached to the computer.
A typical use for this software is to manage the presentation of song lyrics through a projection system during church services, as well as displaying pre-service and post-service announcement slides.
The disadvantage with this setup is that the presentation software must generate it’s full-screen image on the main display adapter — this hides all software controls from the operator, leaving only a limited set of keystrokes or mouse clicks to step through the presentation.

Book review: Free Software, Free Society   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Stallman's insight that software is now an environment where we spend much of our time, and that free software therefore lets us keep control of the environment in which we reside, is a deep realization that doesn't seem to be appreciated enough, even by many Linux fans.
His argument that copyright is for the benefit of the public and not publishers is also strong, as is his explanation of why software patents are harmful.
Ignoring a few uninteresting items such as the Free Software Song and the text of the three GNU licenses, it's a collection that everyone with an interest in software should read.

One of the fringe benefits of being a traveling missionary for the free software cause is the ability to sample delicious food from around the world.
Given the amount of time it has taken him to develop and hone the free software movement's core tenets, Stallman is hesitant to jump aboard any issues or trends that might transport him into uncharted territory.
