Matthews Free Will Baptist Church - Matthews,NC
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for church conferences, public worship, and the observance of the ordinances of the Gospel; nor fail to pay according to our ability for the support of the church, of its poor, and all its benevolent work.
We will everywhere hold Christian principle sacred and Christian obligations and enterprises supreme; counting it our chief business in life to extend the influence of Christ in society, constantly praying and toiling that the kingdom of God may come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The human will is freeand self-controlled, having power to yield to the influence of the truthand the Spirit, or to resist them and perish.

Free Will Baptist Church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Free Will Baptist Church (or Free Will Baptists) is a group of churches that share a common history, name, and an acceptance of the Arminian theology of free grace, free salvation, and free will, based on the idea of general atonement.
Free Will Baptists also observe The Washing of the Saints' Feet as a third ordinance of the church along with Baptism and Communion, a rite common among other evangelical groups but not practiced by the majority of Baptist denominations.
The majority of Free Will Baptist congregations, particularly those associated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists, also have an amillennial view of eschatology and strongly believe in (voluntary) tithing, totally abstaining from alcoholic beverages, and not working on the Sabbath.

Although the objects of the Free Church councils are thus in their nature and spirit religious rather than political, there are occasions on which action is taken on great national affairs.
Each of the associated churches is requested to look after a parish, not of course with any attcmpt to exclude other churches, but as having a special responsibility for those in that area who are not already connected with some existing church.
A remarkable manifestation of this unprecedented reunion was the fact that a committee of the associated churches prepared and published a catechism expressing the positive and fundamental agreement of all the Evangelical Free Churches on the essential doctrines of Christianity (see The Contemporary Review, January 1899).

The question is often asked, "How can you be Pentecostal, Free Will, and Baptist all at the same time?" The first impression is there must be a tremendous amount of incongruity theologically in our structure, but by tracing our origins and examining the evolution of the name, much of that confusion will be dispelled.

The 1,070 pound bell in the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, cast at about the same time as the Chepachet bell, cost $400; this seems to be at the high end of Holbrook's price range; other bells, nearly as heavy, sold for prices ranging between $250 and $350.
All in all, the purchase of a bell was a considerable investment for a small church, but the ringing of that bell became an integral part of that church's activities and the life of the surrounding community.
