Tegel International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the Cold War, because of the special status of West Berlin, air traffic was restricted to Allied airlines (particularly Air France, Pan American World Airways and British Airways).
According to a decade-old plan to replace the three airports currently serving Berlin with one, Berlin-Schönefeld International Airport will be expanded and become Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BBI).
Tegel Airport is notable for its octagonal terminal building around an open square, which makes for walking distances as short as 100 ft. from any airplane, through luggage and customs, to taxi or bus.

The Department for Transport has issued a 'consultation document' in which one option is the construction of a third parallel east-west runway for frequent use, involving the demolition of local residential areas.9% of households have a flush or chemical toilet.
This decision was due to an early assumption that airline passengers would not require extensive car parking, as air travel was then only affordable to the wealthy, who would be chauffeur-driven.
