From what I'm reading, Nadd saw what he took as a miscalculation in her lightsaber form during their duel so he moved in for a killing blow so as to teach her a lesson.
Undoubtedly he figured, especially as he saw her as being arrogant at that point, that she'd just barely be able to bring her blade around in time to block his blow, though even doing so might not have protected herfrom the blow.
