The Freelance Hellraiser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roy Kerr, aka The Freelance Hellraiser, is one of the most respected creators of the UK bootleg scene.
Although originally greeted by a cease and desist order by RCA, the combination was subsequently a top ten UK hit for Scottish band Speedway, and Freelance Hellraiser went on to remix Aguilera's single "Fighter", as well as tracks for Placebo and ex-The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft.
In 2004 he was commissioned by Paul McCartney to remix some lesser-known McCartney tracks as preshow entertainment for his tour of that year.

The best new song I've heard in the past year is called "A Stroke of Genius," but don't bother looking in a record store.
Someone called the Freelance Hellraiser chopped up the instrumental sections of the Strokes' "Hard to Explain," rearranged them, and coupled them with the vocals from Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle," and that's all there is to it.
It's especially clever for the way it harmonically reworks "Genie" (the original music is in a minor key; "Hard to Explain" is major and has totally different changes), but that's not the point.

The Hellraiser has produced several other quirky unofficial remixes and examples of bastard pop, and he is currently working on his own material with collaborators including members of Snow Patrol and in 2002 completed remix work Gomez, Ian Brown and Richard Ashcroft.
