	Freewheelers EVS
		Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service is a registered charity and winner of the Queen's Award For Voluntary Service, which provides an out-of-hours emergency motorcycle courier service to hospitals in the South West of England.
		Freewheelers is one of a number of groups that cover different parts of the country.
		In June 2008, Freewheelers' volunteers were given the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of their work as unsung heroes.

	Fredericton Freewheelers - History
		The touring contingent were being called on a lot to help out with racer-related activities and hence decided that they wanted a club solely for recreational cyclists.
		The Fredericton Freewheelers were started around the year 1988 by a group of Bicycle Fredericton (BF) recreational riders who were not interested in a racing club or getting involved in bicycle rights advocacy.
		In 1991, the constitution of the club was drawn up and the club was formally brought into being.

		Call from Nick the coordinator to say that we have and urgent Antibiotic Assay that needs to be taken from Gloucester down to Southmead hospital in Bristol.
		I leave to meet up with the Severn Freewheelers bike that is meeting me with the sample at M5 J14 and by 10am the small packet is in the hands of the hospital.
		Quick and easy job this and it turns out to be the last one of the night so by 7.15pm I am tucked up in front of the TV in case the phone rings between now and 7am tomorrow morning!

		Jun 01 Freewheelers constituted as a mutual society under the umbrella of QEF for fundraising purposes
		The result was the beginnings of a great new play “The Triumph and the Apollo”, and a set of recommendations for our future, the most cogent of which was that we should move out of the Centre into the community and offer our services to a wider group of disabled and non-disabled people.
		The Freewheelers moved out of QEF into The Bridge Centre in North Leatherhead on 30th October 2006 and a Community Interest Company (CIC) was incorporated on 10th November 2006 — this being a straightforward company structure and having the right “feel” of empowering its participants who would be running a Social Enterprise.

		The Great Drumtochty Challenge is orienteering on mountain bikes, and there are different categories that you can enter, and the 9 Zero Freewheelers enter the category for the fire service.
		We have had teams for the last five years at Drumtochty and 0ne of that teams has won the Fire Brigade category two years running with other teams of Freewheelers a close second and third.
		This year we had a 1st place in the Male team category, well done to Dave and Ping, we will cuff ye next year.
