RAMBERG, J. - Unification of the Law of International Freight Forwarding
Particularly when the freight forwarder acts as a cargo consolidator, difficulties arise in deciding whether he should nevertheless be considered as an agent or rather as a principal in the transaction resulting in a liability for the freight forwarder as carrier.
In my view, the freight forwarder's quotation of a fixed price without the duty to account to his customer for the composition of that price constitutes such a statement or conduct tantamount to an implied agreement by the freight forwarder to be regarded as principal in the transaction.
If the freight forwarder performed the service or carriage using his own facilities or means of transport he would, of course, be free to subject the contract to his own specific conditions insofar as these did not depart from any compulsorily applicable regime.

The amount of freight is usually fixed by the agreement of the parties and if there be no agreement, the amount is to be ascertained by the usage of the trade and the circumstances and reason of the case.

In general, the master has a lien on the goods and need not part with them until the freight is paid; and when the regulations of the revenue require them to be landed in a public warehouse, the master may enter them in his own name and preserve the lien.

 Freight Train: A Review
Freight Train is a card game played by two to five players who meld trains by switching cars placed in freight yards.
During set up, players lay out their initial locomotives (5 to 7 depending on the number of players); the main freight yard of five tracks is filled with 25 freight cards; each player lays out his switch yard and places 12 freight cars in it.
Freight cars left in the player's switching yard at the end of first round bring the player additional money but, by the end of the third round, cost the player money.

JS Online: Hauling freight could become Amtrak's moneymaking answer
As long as Amtrak was carrying mainly mail and small packages, it didn't bother freight railroads, who by law must allow Amtrak to run on their tracks.
Serving express freight customers also has given Amtrak a way to add routes that might not be economically feasible if they were carrying passengers alone.
That's because the schedules most convenient for express freight customers are not necessarily the schedules most convenient for passengers, and dealing with freight cars can slow down passenger trains, warn Ross Capon, executive director of the National Association of Rail Passengers, and Tony Haswell, the association's founder.
