Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Maginot Line   (Site not responding. Last check: )
The Maginot Line (named after French minister of defence André Maginot) was a line of concrete fortifications, tank obstacles, machine gun posts and other defenses which France constructed along its borders with Germany and with Italy in the wake of World War I.
With the rise of the French independent nuclear deterrent by 1969 the Line was largely given up by the government, with sections auctioned off to the public and the rest left to decay.
As originally envisioned, the Maginot Line was part of a larger defence plan, in which the attackers would meet with resistance from the French Army, but planning in general failed, leading to the loss of effectiveness of the Line.

Jane Russell is as usual her spunky insolent self and gets to showcase her famous torpedo talents in outfits leaving nothing not spangled.
