French Military Mission to Poland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although the French mission was small numerically, its effect was substantial in improving the organisation and logistics of the Polish army.
The French effort was vital in improving the organisation of the newly formed Polish army, which up till 1919 used various manuals, organisation structures and equipment, mostly from the former partitioners armies.
This mission should not be confused with the Interallied Mission to Poland, an improvised effort launched by David Lloyd George on July 21, 1920, at the height of the crisis before the Battle of Warsaw.

Poland, a staunch ally of the United States that supported the war against Iraq from the beginning, had played a major role with the coalition forces, sending 1,800 troops to the country.

Merkel under fire over Congo mission - Europe - International Herald Tribune
Since the request, the EU's military planners have become embroiled in disputes over the mandate, the logistics and in which country the military planning would be prepared.
Germany, which has reluctantly agreed in principle to take over the lead of the 1,500-strong mission, said it would only do so only if other EU countries participated, if the mission were under a UN mandate and if the goals of the mission were clearly established.
But the mission was criticized Sunday by members of Merkel's coalition as well as the opposition, which said the mandate for the mission was vague and that it was hard to know how such a tiny mission could make an impact in a country the size of Western Europe.
