In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, having post offices abroad was often considered one of the hallmarks of a great power.
Austria established its post offices in Turkey (Levant) and in Crete.
Austria began to operate post offices in the Ottoman Empire as early as 1845.

The French post offices abroad were a global network of post officees in foreign countries established by France to provide postal service where the local services were deemed unsafe or unreliable.
They were generally set up in cities with some sort of French commercial interest.
They started appearing in the early 19th century, reached their heyday at the beginning of the 20th century, then started closing down in the 1910s and 1920s, with the office at Kwangchowan in China holding out until the 1940s.

There was a danger of French advance in that region, as well as from the west (second Monteil mission, July 1895; Marchand mission, Feb. 1896), despite the famous Grey declaration (March 28, 1895) stating that Britain would regard such action as “unfriendly,” which obliged the government to reestablish control of the Sudan itself.

The Army Post Office Corps under the command of Major Sturgeon was despatched to Suakin in support of the expeditionary force raised to relieve General Gordon in Khartoum.
In 1533 Henry VIII had military posts between London and his Armies, consisting of horsemen established at 20 mile interval "by means of which, travelling at the utmost speed and no passing their respective limits" (or Posts) dispatches were carried between the King and his Armies "200 miles in two days".
Some Field Post Offices (FPO) were sent to provide postal support to British troops in Ireland (1920-23), China (1927-1940), during the Saar Plebiscite (1935), in Palestine (1936) and to maintain operational efficiency the Postal Section participated in military manoeuvres in the UK (1933, 1934, 1935 and 1937).

This office in Munich becomes the headquarters of a national data bank on Gypsies, and represents all German police agencies together with the Interpol International Center in Vienna.

A very clean post office fresh lot of lots of modern face value including post office year sets and little folders with modern blocks, 1990's era issues, plus some older material, some of which was collected by topic such as 2c reds.
Then the Russian post offices abroad covers with 4 lovely postal history items, two of which have Russian stamps accompanying the postal stationery with a combination of cyrillic and roman alphabets and some extraordinary cancels including a diamond zig-zag on a 4 kop Russian postal stationery.
They include post office openings, covers related to various wars and military actions, special cancels and cachets, plus postal stationery, etc. There are a few regular first day covers including a nice set of #1-9 Doar Ivri on small size FDC plus there several larger covers with portions of booklet pane sheets.
