french rock band : Kiko Malbos (France, Istres)
KIKO MALBOS, a French rock band, it is initially an enchanting passion for the Rock music which haunts since always its singer Kiko, creator of the French band.
The arrival of the three other members of the French rock band (Laurent with the guitar, Mathieu with bass guitar and Yannick with drums) brought to its music with dimensions pop and more melody which is retranscribed in titles like "Dames de coeur".
In spite of an obvious Anglo-Saxon influence, the texts of the French rock band are mainly sung in French and this by preoccupations with a comprehension for their French public.

French rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When talking about French rock in the greater sense, it is a form of rock music produced primarily in France, but also in other European francophone countries.
One of the difficulties for French rock has been that, during the 1960s and 1970s, it was a copy of variety music, contrary to the English Easy listening music which was the primary source of money in the French music scene at the time.
At this time, French progressive rock was peaking, with the bands Dun, Terpandre and Emeraude achieving the most success.

The Rock Radio: Rock Star Back to French Prison
Lithuania will allow French rock singer Bertrand Cantat, imprisoned in Vilnius for the murder of his French actress girlfriend, to return to France next week to serve out the remainder of his eight-year sentence, his lawyer said Friday.
Papirtis said the Lithuanian justice ministry received a letter from its French counterpart earlier this month agreeing to the handover, though time was needed to prepare the necessary documents.
Celebrated for his enigmatic performances as the lead singer of the best known French rock band, Noir Desir, he was hailed as the French Jim Morrison.

But rock has been a genre where the French, often because of the language barrier, languished in the shadow of their U.S. and British cousins, rarely venturing beyond national borders.
Another part of the problem is the French radio quota system introduced in the mid-1990s, which states that 40 percent of tracks played on the radio must be sung in French, Merle says.

Running through the French rock music veins is an abundance of influences that are reflected in the different styles present.
Of course, the absurdity of this situation is that French music is perceived as being a little behind the times (insular at least), but these post-clubbers use the most modern of techniques to create their music.
French techno and post club sounds are appealling to London clubbers but that is as far as the "French touch" has ventured.

 French Rock Bands
Until the 1990’s French rock music was a pretty lame imitation of the best UK and US rock bands with French rock bands copying the music, style and even lyrics of their English speaking counterparts.
French rock bands have always been limited in their international appeal because of the language barrier.
This means that for many French rock bands, no matter how musically talented, they are limited to the glass ceiling of the domestic French audience when it comes to spreading their music.

The Straight Dope: Do the French really love Jerry Lewis?
French critics, who had voted The Nutty Professor the best film of the year, gave him an award, an art cinema put on a three-week Jerry Lewis festival, and the French film library held a retrospective with seminars on Jerry's art.
French acclaim, far from causing folks to reconsider, was taken as proof of French ridiculousness.
But it's probably equally true that the French, despite or maybe because of their devotion to art (you know, pushing the envelope and all that), were also suckers for low comedy.

 The emancipation of French rock
Sometime in the mid-eighties, French rock decided to cast aside the blanket of inhibitions that was smothering it and rediscover its roots rather than envy those of others.
Sounds like good news: on the eve of the 21st century, French rock has ceased to be the favourite object of mockery of international rock enthusiasts.
Due to the insurmountable language barrier, rock music sung in French has always had a tough time getting beyond the borders of the French-speaking countries; but within those borders at least, it has managed to find its own identity and made a lasting impression, so much so that it no longer owes anything to anyone.

 Rock French at last
If you do, the best French rock is undoubtedly to be found where you’d least expect it, on the now more open and celebrated electronic music scene, with groups such as Phoenix and Air.
The first, authors of three albums that oscillate between ultra-melodic pop inspired by 1970s America and an elegant rock reminiscent of The Strokes, have managed to heave themselves up onto the international stage, where their French origins are entirely obscured.
However, the most solid and durable of French rock styles is still the one whose origins go back to Noir Désir, in other words to the encounter, not to say sometimes collision, of a somewhat literary and lyrical phrasing with the renewable energies of rock, folk and punk.

Three minutes of squirming embarrassment and nostalgia for roadworks is usually the reaction of Anglophones forced to listen to Noir Desir (whose lead singer is currently in jail for manslaughter), M (a glam rocker who wears his hair in the shape of an M. Seriously!), Louise Attaque (a strangely-named an all-male band) and the like.
Yet French acts that would be idolised by indie-kids in other countries (I can recommend The Married Monk, a Breton band who sometimes play with Yann 'Amelie-soundtrack' Tiersen) merely scrape a living on the college circuit.
But rock is reactionary - and French rockers seem to react against the cooler-than-thee national stereotype by glorifying passion, authenticity and ordinariness.

Marshalling the feral intensity of the freak-rockers, and harnassing it to large-scale compositional structures derived from Stravinsky and Orff, was the self-assigned task of Christian Vander, founder of Magma.
