Because Fresnillo's importance has made it the subject of many exploration and academic studies, there is a wealth of information to use as a basis for comparison and exploration modeling.
The 2003 drilling results confirmed that Fresnillo style silver and gold rich mineralization continued into Juanicipio and indicated that the exploration techniques and exploration model being used was indeed correct.

This area appears to have several features in common with the high grade silver veins in the Fresnillo district where more than 10,000 tonnes of silver have been produced along with 15 tonnes of gold and more than 500,000 tonnes each of lead and zinc.
The surface expression of underlying mineralization is restricted to a stockwork of small veins and veinlets of barren calcite and quartz.
Survey results reinforce the findings of previous studies suggesting that Nieves is a large hydrothermal system with minimal erosion and several features in common with the high-grade Fresnillo silver district, 90 km south of Nieves and also to Western Silver's Peñasquito silver project located approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Nieves.
