Side by side again entering the Hall of Fame in 1992, Frew Donald McMillan was reunited with his one-time collaborator on the team of Hewitt and McMillan.
The unorthodox McMillan-- stroking with two hands on both sides in the left court--and Bob Hewitt were a dynamite blend, winning five major titles (three Wimbledons) driving South Africa to the 1974 Davis Cup.
McMillan's individual total of pro doubles titles was 74, third on the all-time list behind Tom Okker (78) and McEnroe (77).

Frew McMillan was born on 20 May 1942 in Springs on the East Rand.
McMillan and Hewitt became an instant hit in the tennis world, winning match after match.
On his own, McMillan also won two pro single titles, and with mixed doubles partner Betty Stove he took the mixed Wimbledon title in 1978 and 1981, and the US Open title in 1977 and 1978.

Famous for his trademark white cap, Frew McMillan won the Wimbledon men's doubles title with Bob Hewitt in 1967, 1972 and 1978.
From December 1966, Hewitt and McMillan were unbeaten for more than 50 matches - at Wimbledon in 1967 Frew never lost a service game and the pair never dropped a set.
Frew played Davis Cup tennis for South Africa between 1965 and 1978, and had a 22-5 doubles record in the competition.

I agree completely with Alex Frew McMillan '94, a British subject, who writes to propose that the memorial not be restricted to students or alumni who died serving the USA.
McMillan points out, UNC is an international institution that should include those foreign UNC students and alumni who have given their lives for their own countries.
