Trap Rock's daughter, Rock Emerald, was the dam of the champion steeplechaser Blockade, and another daughter, Rosequartz, was dam of three-time winner of the Maryland Hunt Cup, Winton.
Friar Rock, like his sire, was better as a broodmare sire: he was five times in the top ten on the broodmare sire's charts, ranking as high as fourth twice.
Rock Sand's daughter, TOQUE, from TRACERY'S dam, Topiary, was born in France, where Topiary had been sent after she was confirmed in foal to Rock Sand in 1912 (Topiary made the trans-Atlantic trip yet again afterwards, and died in Kentucky in 1922).

 Derry Ghosts: Friar Hegarty’s Rock
The slaying of the friar at the hands of the British forces was extensively investigated by local historians through the ages and the story was set in print by a few, including the late Father John Fitzgerald, formerly of Buncrana.
Although the Penal Laws (1698) had not been introduced at the time of the Friar’s death in 1632, their precursors, the two royal proclamations (1604 and 1611) had ordered that all Mass priests be banished from the country.
Yet another source of intrigue is the fact the rock itself bears a crack in the image of a cross and, although the geological make up of the stone may adequately explain the shape of the crack in scientific terms, there are some who believe in a more supernatural explanation.

Alleging he was sexually abused when he was 14 by Father Theodore Feely, a Conventual Franciscan Friar of the Province of St. Bonaventure assigned to St. Anthony of Padua Church in Rockford in 1969, Rockford resident Donald Bondick filed suit against The Catholic Diocese of Rockford and The Conventual Franciscans Feb. 23.
Bondick chose at that time to share his story under the pseudonym “Thomas White.” It is common practice in the media to withhold the actual names of those who allege they were sexually abused, whether as children or as adults.
The report said “Six priests from religious orders were turned over to the superiors of their respective orders for resolutions,” but none was employed by the Rockford Diocese at the time of the allegations.

Today, those pieces are all that remain of the Bald Friar petroglyphs, since the remainder were either destroyed or submerged beneath the waters of the Conowingo reservoir once the dam was completed in 1927.

The strings and the accompanying heavy James vibrato is employed for such ballads as the hauntingly beautiful "Stella by Starlight." The hot stuff is seen mostly on tunes arranged and composed with Ray Conniff, like "Friar Rock" where the James vibrato is far less conspicuous.
Conniff was doing the bulk of the arranging at this time and there is a hint of the style he later adopted when leading his own band, but fortunately for James, at this point in time, Conniff's arrangements were still interesting.
