part 3 doesnt really depend on "on-screen" blood and guts, its more about the killer watching and waiting and not going around cutting peoples heads off and blood splattering on the walls.

 Horrordvds.com - Friday the 13th Part 3 DVD review
Friday the 13th Part 3 was made in 1982 and once again features Jason Voorhees who decides to kill more unsuspecting youths in various creative methods with a versatile selection of edged weapons.
Part 3 has some significance in the series since this film was shot in 3D and it is also the film in which Jason gets his notorious hockey mask, which would go on to, be a series trademark.
Regardless, the Friday the 13th series has a large fan base and although I wish I could say this DVD is a great edition for fans Paramount's refusal to release unedited versions is an insult to the people who have stood by this series all these years.

DVD Verdict Review - Friday The 13th Part 3
Friday the 13th films have their own rabid fan base and this audience should expect more than just this minimally acceptable DVD version.
Friday the 13th enthusiasts, the ones with a McFarlane Movie Maniac Jason action figure looking down upon them from the tops of their computer monitors, looking to complete their collection.
There is a definite place for Friday the 13th Part 3, provided that the discerning viewer merely agrees to overlook all the obvious faults of this garbage and accepts the film for what it is…a cheap '80s slasher flick devoid of any sense of style, wit, tension, or technical expertise.

I Viddied it on the Screen-Friday the 13th: Part 3
This goes back to my original observation that the victims in the Friday the 13th films do not die because there is some sort of karmic force punishing them for their heedless hedonism, but because they do not have lives that are worth being protected.
It depresses me to imagine the victims of Friday the 13th not dying, and growing up to become the storeowner and wife and mistakenly thinking that they have grown past their sex-and-pot teenage years instead of simply trading off for a different sort of vapid idiocy.
This may be one of the first times that a character in a Friday the 13th film is given enough of a background for their encounter with Jason to amount to something substantial.

Although Part 3 is, like Part 2, merely a rehash of the stalk'n'slash formula established in the first film, it is the first (and only) scope "Friday" film.

 A History Of Friday The 13th - part 3
Up until the Middle Ages when pagans continued to celebrate symbolic pagan days, Friday the 13th was thought to be especially lucky because it combined the goddess’s sacred day with her sacred number (drawn from the 13 months of the lunar year).
While the New Testament rationale for the dislike of both Friday and the number thirteen is often used as the explanation for the bad karma associated with Friday the 13th, it is, in my opinion, a little superficial to create such a strong taboo.
But Friday the 13th is different from these other plagiarized holidays because the Christians turned what used to be a day of celebration of female strength and power into a day of fear and taboos.

Mutant Reviewers from Hell do "Friday the 13th Part III"
Friday the 13th Part 3 is notable as the film where Jason picks up his now-trademark hockey mask, but this installment has special meaning for me as having the last F13 heroine that I really like and would become fictional myself just to have the chance to date.
Maybe it’s just me since 3 and even 2 are labeled two of the worst in the series by people with nothing else to do but rank them, but thankfully those people aren’t here right now to speak their foolishness and stink up the place (generally people who disagree with me smell like garbage.
No, Friday the 13th Part 3 is as far from the rebelling-against-stereotypes as you're wont to get; it revels in its clichés (which might've been new at the time) and serves as an active workout for your eye-rolling muscles.

Friday the 13th is removed from those films in that it has no basis in reality and far from Hitchcock in that it utilizes very little style beyond horror clichés.
Part 3 in the series was originally released in 3D and the effect is sorely missed in watching it on DVD.

 Friday the 13th, Part 3
You may remember that, in my review of the first Friday the 13th film, I described this movie and its immediate successor as “unapologetically stupid.” True enough, but in the many years that had elapsed since I last watched Friday the 13th, Part 3, I had forgotten just how stupid it was.
Part 1 had Jason leaping out of the lake as a zombie boy to pull Alice under; Part 2 had the not-dead-after-all Jason smashing through a picture window to grab Ginny and square up accounts with Paul, whom he had somehow failed to kill by that point despite two solid attempts.
Part 2 paints Jason as defending his territory against interlopers from the outside world, whom he seems to see as trying to come between him and his mother.

It gets annoying after awhile, considering it just looks stupid with out it being in 3-D. Overall though, Friday the 13th Part 3 is one of the better sequels in this slasher franchise.

There is a scene later at the end of Part II where Jason, unmasked, crashes through a window and the machette is still in place in his chest.
This contrasts with the shot in the beginning of Part III where he "comes back to life," but in Part III the machette is not in his shoulder but in his hand.

Were it not for the opening flashback sequence replaying the slow-motion climax from Part II, it would be easy to doubt that this film is even part of the series.
And yet, Part III epitomizes everything that has come to be associated with the Friday franchise: the hockey mask (introduced here), inventive death scenes (including the glorious harpoon through the eye), creative dead-body placement designed to further terrify those who have not yet been killed, and an ending pointing the way to yet another sequel.
It’s as if the powers that be behind the Friday universe realized the need for a film created in service to those that would follow, a predictable gore-fest from whence the blood-curdling tales of Jason would come.
