Friedrich Karl Ferdinand, Freiherr von Müffling, called Weiss (June 12, 1775 - January 10, 1851), Prussian generalfeldmarschall, entered the Prussian army in 1790.

Karl Friedrich von Steinmetz (December 27, 1796 - August 2, 1877), German generalfeldmarschall, was born at Eisenach.
He was educated at the cadet school of Stolp in Pomerania from 1807 to 1811, in the midst of the misery and poverty caused by the French occupation.
General von Müffling reported of him that he was arrogant and that he resented encouragement which he probably regarded as patronagebut that his ability would enable him to outdistance his comrades.
