Both Wynn and Graefe zu Baringdorf stressed their belief that Slovenia will surely be among the first new members of the EU, something they said was additionally confirmed by their visit to Slovenia.
Graefe zu Baringdorf was convinced that Slovenia would participate in the 2004 elections to the European Parliament, while Wynn said that he believes Slovenia will use the finances for EU membership well.
Graefe zu Baringdorf went on to announce that the European Parliament will call on the European Commission to begin providing pre-membership funds for agriculture from the SAPARD programme to candidate countries, including Slovenia.
