Rail-to-bus transfers are free for eligible D.C. school students within the District of Columbia and at Silver Spring, Friendship Heights, Naylor Road, Southern Ave and Capitol Heights stations.
The customer must present qualifying documentation at the Metro Headquarters Sales office only, at 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, D.C. The customer may also use a valid Medicare card and valid photo ID to purchase the discounted farecards at our Metro sales office locations and retail locations.
Visiting seniors who reside outside the WMATA service area must show photo ID that indicates their date of birth (65+) to be eligible to purchase specially-encoded $10 senior discount paper farecards at our Metro sales offices and some retail locations.

Friendship Heights is a wealthy residential neighborhood in northwest Washington, DC and southern Montgomery County, Maryland.
Though its borders are not clearly defined, Friendship Heights consists roughly of the neighborhoods and commercial areas around Wisconsin Avenue north of Tenleytown to Somerset Terrace in Maryland, and from River Road in the west to Reno Road in the east.
The Friendship Heights Station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro system serves the area, and the station is also a major connecting depot for area bus services.

Miss Ferguson, a Metro bus driver since September 2002, was on her way to start the route between Glover Park and Dupont Circle.
Metro officials said it was the fourth death involving a Metro bus in the past 18 months.
