  Dunedin Fringe Festival
The Dunedin Fringe is an open-access Festival which means it is up to the artists themselves to create and produce their Festival event.
Festival Director, Paul Smith, said the change in dates is designed to align the Dunedin Fringe Festival with the Wellington and Adelaide Fringe Festivals and to develop new audiences.
The 2006 festival, which ran between 22nd September and 8th October was the biggest in Dunedin Fringe history, with an extension of a week from previous festivals to accommodate the large number of acts.

 Athabasca Country Fringe Festival
To qualify as a Fringe, the festival takes all performers on a first-come, first-served basis, and all funds collected must go to the performers, who decide what to charge for admission to their shows.
Canada’s first Fringe was established in Edmonton in 1982, and it’s now a major event with thousands of participants milling the streets and lining up for shows.

Begun in 1992, the Orlando Fringe is the oldest "fringe festival" in the United States and among the oldest of more than 20 in the world.
There, in 1947, performers who weren't invited to appear at the city's Festival of the Arts decided to throw their own event on the "fringe" of the official one.

 Winnipeg Fringe General Information
The Festival organisation itself was to provide common venues for the participating companies to perform in and an overhead structure to support the promotion of the festival and to provide technical and volunteer support.
Festival volunteers were assigned to the companies to sell tickets but all ticket revenue went directly to the performing company.
The Fringe will again be absorbing the additional administrative costs for these services along with the credit card surcharges - all direct ticket revenues from the face value of the tickets still belong to the performing companies.

 St Ives Cornwall - September Festival 2008
Written, produced and filmed entirely on location in town and described as “The Alternative Tourist Guide to St Ives,” SNOTTON TV takes a tongue in cheek(s) look at the rich diversity of characters and locations to be found in one of Britain's most famous and picturesque seaside resorts.

If currency is your measuring stick for Fringe shows, this one, which addresses the Catholic Church's pedophilia scandal, has to be one of the best.
I mention this in connection with Meaningless Sex, a new musical enjoying its first airing at this year's Fringe Festival, because it underscores the show's weaknesses and points to what areas need to be examined if it is to have a future.
These are Lecoq-trained performers who put their background to exemplary use, combining movement, some puppets, many wigs and a host of very ordinary props and cut out boards to fashion a story which is both clear and clearly and hysterically enjoyable.
