	Frits Peutz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Peutz was born in a catholic family in Uithuizen in Groningen, a mostly protestant province in the north of the Netherlands.
		Peutz was also responsible for the adjacent Pancratiuskerk (for Monumentenzorg - 'Monument Care') and the juxtaposition between this old Romanesque church and the ultramodern department store is typical for his mixing of the old and the new.
		The retreat house and the Glaspaleis are good examples of a new phase in his building style that he developed after entering a competition to design the Palais des Nations in Geneva (1926), this new style accumulated in the Town hall of Heerlen.

		Frits Peutz was born in 1896 in Uithuizen (Gr) as the son of a catholic headmaster.
		Peutz' use of two completely different styles and his aversion against, in his own words, the 'calvinistic-catholic dictatorship' of the Delft School in the 1930's made him controversial outside his province.
		Peutz designs a new nave that, like the tower, is built in alternating layers of brick and natural stone.

		Zetel Foundation, In collaboration with De Zonnehof in Amersfoort, is preparing a large summer exhibition in the pavilion designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1956.
