Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz was named the Henrico County Business Leader of the Year Wednesday night in a Henrico Business Council awards ceremony.
Richmond International Raceway hosted one of the biggest days of testing in track history today as 19 cars tested their rides in preparation for the Chevy American Revolution 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.
This weekend's "Richmond Times-Dispatch 100" at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway is round four of the 2005 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series.

 Henrico Seeks NASCAR Hall Of Fame — Henrico Citizen
In addition, the Richmond region has a lengthy racing history that dates to 1946 – two years before NASCAR was formed.
Henrico’s bid will come, officially, from the Virginians for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, an organization that will include the county and state, as well as RIR, the Greater Richmond Partnership, the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, the Retail Merchants Association and others.
Fritz indicated a desire to place it near the main entrance of the RIR complex and said that he had not discussed other potential locations in the county with local officials.

He's been playing washtub bass (and jug) for decades and seemed like someone who might be a good candidate for a teaching video.
I know that you already have a video for kids on making and playing homemade instruments that includes washtub bass, but I'm guessing that there wouldn't be a whole lot in that video for me as I already have the bass.

It was during the mid-90's that Sebastian's old friendship with Fritz Richmond combined with rhythm kings Jimmy Vivino and James Wormworth to form John Sebastian and The J-Band.
John Sebastian was born march 17, 1944 and raised in Greenwich Village in New York City.
Sebastian later joined The Mugwumps (with Zal Yanovsky, Cass Elliot and Denny Dougherty of The Mamas and the Papas), and after that ran its course, he and Yanovsky joined forces to create an electrified version of this rich roots music.
