FrizzleFry is the first studio album recorded by the band Primus.
Released in 1990 on Caroline Records, it included the tracks FrizzleFry and Groundhog's Day, not to be confused with the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, as well as the bands first single and minor radio hit "John The Fisherman".
FrizzleFry quickly went gold in 2002, shortly after it was reissued.

FrizzleFry is a great debut album, but I prefer to go Sailing the Seas of Cheese.
FrizzleFry 10/10: Nevermind that the lyrics seem to shift from a strange world to lyrics about not believing in holograms and so forth and then shift again to an instrumental for the last half.
FrizzleFry is a commanding, bass driven masterpiece of metal(yes, metal.) This is not only Primus at their heaviest but also at their peak in songwriting, something that faultered later in their career.
Primus' second release (but first studio album), 1990's FRIZZLEFRY, remains one of this psycho-noise-funk-freakout band's finest.
Whereas most other funk-like hard rock bands at the time came off half-baked and silly, Primus were one of the genre's masters (bassist Les Claypool had done hard time in funk/jazz cover bands prior to Primus).
Several songs on FRIZZLEFRY had already been issued on the in-concert SUCK ON THIS, but dazzling renditions of "John the Fisherman", "Ground Hog's Day", "Pudding Time", and "Harold of the Rocks" outdo the originals.

John the Fisherman opens FrizzleFry, recorded live in front of a loud 1989 club crowd, with a loving reference to Rushs YYZ. Suck on This, the next years follow-up, repeats several songs with extra punch.
But beware: Claypools affected nasal cartoon voice has been known to clear rooms in two notes.

Nods but thankfully few outright steals to everything from Frank Zappa's arch humor and Funkadelic's sprawl to the Police's early, spare effectiveness crop up and, indeed, so does plenty of Metallica (the title track's extreme climax in particular).
But whether it's due to Claypool's reedy, whacked-out voice or the fact that just about every song seems like it could be a soundtrack to a moshpit gone wild, something about FrizzleFry is ultimately and perfectly of its time and place.

Primus have announced the details for their "Hallucino-Genetic Tour" which will kick off in late May. Similar to their recent "Tour De Fromage," this tour will see the band performing two sets.
The first set will be composed of a variety of material from all releases, while the second set will be a performance of their album"FrizzleFry" in its entirety.
