 VH1.com : Raymond Froggatt : Biography
Froggatt was a sickly child who spent much of his youth battling tuberculosis in the Yardley Sanatorium.
Froggatt's first success came with his song "Red Balloon." Unfortunately, though played on local radio stations for two months, it was badly mishandled and never appeared in stores; later the song became a hit for the Dave Clark Five, and then for Marie Laforet in France.
After his Bell contract expired, Froggatt signed with music entrepreneur Don Arden, who was known as a starmaker and could perhaps provide the singer a chance to make it in the U.S. Arden put Froggatt on staff for Robbins EMIL Music Publishers and pre-sold all of his future recordings to Warner Brothers.

 Froggatt Home page
The first Froggatt reference that offers any family detail is of a John Froggatt and his family at Mayfield in 1532 (see '1532 Listing of Families' - sorry, page not yet written), and some of the later families can be linked into him with a degree of speculation.
A very large proportion of the Froggatt baptisms in the 17th century can be linked into a small number of lines of descent, which can be traced back to the last quarter of the 16th century.
A branch of the Shropshire Froggatts emigrated to New Zealand, and is one of five families in that country, all of which have been very well researched (see 'New Zealand Froggatts').

 The Early Froggatt families
A substantial majority of the Froggatts whose baptisms are recorded in the IGI in the 17th century have been linked in with reasonable certainty to one of a small number of pedigrees.
William Froggatt (1W1), born around 1575, is the ancestor of the large branches of Froggatts in Shropshire and Birmingham.
This is a long way from other Froggatt settlements, and the whole Hampshire connection is a bit of a mystery, as the IGI reveals 8 Froggatt marriages in the county between 1598 and 1724 (including West Meon 1598, 1618 and 1641), but not a single baptism before 1805.

Rock-climbing in the Peak District National Park - Stanage, Froggatt, Curbar, Stoney Middleton, Cheedale, Dovedale etc, England, UK Rock-climbing in the Peak began with early pioneers in the 1890s, and has now expanded so that every weekend there are thousands of climbers on the crags.
The Peak has a wide range of crags both large and small with well over 10000 recorded climbs - probably no-one knows exactly how many - and being close to several large population centres means that it is a popular place to climb.
The Dove valley, from Milldale downstream, has a number of important climbing areas including Raven Tor, Tissington Spires and the daunting pinnacle of Ilam Rock, and though the Manifold valley has generally less rock than the Dove, in Beeston Tor it boasts probably the best crag of this area of the Peak.
