Hell, he's as naive as the band he's duping.
What they do is present the band with a letter of intent, or "deal memo," which loosely states some terms, and affirms that the band will sign with the label once a contract has been agreed on.
These letters never have any terms of expiration, so the band remain bound by the deal memo until a contract is signed, no matter how long that takes.

From Hell letter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The "From Hell" letter is the name given to a letter mailed in 1888 by a man who claimed to be the killer known as Jack the Ripper.
Though many letters claiming to be from the killer were mailed in the time of the Ripper murders, the "From Hell" letter is widely considered one of the few possibly authentic writings received from the serial killer.
The "From Hell" Letter postmarked 15 October 1888.

Casebook: Jack the Ripper - Patricia Cornwell and Walter Sickert: A Primer
The possibility remains that the From Hell letter and kidney were the result of misguided prank by a medical student (a fairly common thing in those days).
The only Ripper letter with a strong possible connection to the true murderer is the "From Hell" letter, and Cornwell found no links in the text of this letter between the author and Walter Sickert.
The letter, as she states, was undated, and no envelope or postmark surives to confirm the actual date it was sent.

The title is taken from the first words of the "From Hell" letter, which some authorities believe was an authentic message sent from the killer in 1888.
From Hell takes as its premise Stephen Knight's theory that the murders were part of a conspiracy to conceal the birth of an illegitimate royal baby fathered by Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence.

Religious Topic Existence of Hell - The Letter From Beyond intro by Marian T. Horvat @ TraditionInAction.org
Hell not only exists, therefore, but would be well populated, as Scriptures itself affirms: “Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat.” (Matt 7:13)
Above, a Cardinal is dragged by the devils to Hell in a 12th century painting (England).
Instead of encouraging inconsistent hopes that Hell is unpopulated, the Church wisely counseled her children to mediate often on it, knowing that many would abandon the path of sin by thinking about those devouring flames, those horrible torments that the human tongue cannot express.

DOCUMENT TITLE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
The "Dear Boss" letter was received at the Central News Agency on the 27th of September, 1888.
This letter was initially believed to be a hoax - but after the deaths of both Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddoes - this idea was reconsidered, mainly because the murders eerily mirrored the promises made in the letter (specifically the cutting off of the ears)
It is believed to be genuine as it's handwriting is similar to the "Dear Boss" Letter, and it describes details that a hoaxer could not have known, unless he, perhaps, learnt them from a very early issue of the morning newspaper on October 1st.

Hell, purgatory, and heaven seem to differ as do despair, almost-despair, and the assurance of safety.
Christians are to be taught that it would be the pope's wish, as it is his duty, to give of his own money to very many of those from whom certain hawkers of pardons cajole money, even though the church of St. Peter might have to be sold.
The assurance of salvation by letters of pardon is vain, even though the commissary, nay, even though the pope himself, were to stake his soul upon it.

Hasbro to This is True: Go to Hell
The letter alleges first that the card "creat[es] a likelihood of confusion with respect to Hasbro's authorization or sponsorship of or association with your commercial activities." We think it's unlikely that anyone viewing an obvious parody would seriously think it was "authorized" or "sponsored" by Hasbro.
In addition, the letter shows Hasbro's attorney did read our clear statement that the card was a parody under copyright laws (see links at the end): she countered with some case law of her own.
But even before that letter had a chance to go in the mail, we immediately responded in good faith to Hasbro's stated (and truly not-all-that unreasonable, really) concerns: we have made the reasons for the parody more obvious, and have added a clear disclaimer that Hasbro has nothing to do with our cards.
