Front 242 is a Belgian synth band that came into prominence during the 1980s.
Front 242 was becoming the most popular musical group in Belgium; their next album, No Comment would cement the group's place in electronic music, and was the first to introduce the term "Electronic Body Music" in association with their sound.
Front 242 signed with the Wax Trax[?] label in 1984, and started their first tour in the United States with Ministry.

By 1987, Front 242 had gained an American contract through Chicago's Wax Trax!, the home of a diverse group of mostly European aggressive synthesizer acts later lumped together as exponents of industrial rock.
Released in 1988, third LP Front by Front was undoubtedly the group's best yet, with more emphasis on song structure than loose mechanistic grooves.
Front 242 released a live LP (Live Code) and a remix album (Mut@ge.Mix@ge) but for the most part remained quiet while flocks of industrial bands invaded the mainstream charts during the mid- to late '90s.

For the past several years, Front 242 fans have had to make do with live albums as everyone's favorite EBM grandfathers took a little time off.
This is the straightforward, dark dance all Front 242 fans expect (and that's been aped by newer bands like Apoptygma Berzerk and Covenant.) The tunes are a bit more down-tempo—think "Tragedy for You"—but the familiar mix of heavily-accented vocals and staccato beats still glide over the rich synth backdrop.
While it's admirable that Front 242 aren't afraid to explore new avenues, it's a shame they didn't find something more interesting while they were traipsing about.

The album captures the ultra high- energy of a typical Front 242 performance (complete with their standard fare of hit songs-- "Tragedy (For You)," "Headhunter," and "Welcome to Paradise") and squeezes it into a package so blindingly fluorescent that you'll never have problems finding it in the dark.
Unfortunately, the recording sounds more like it was tracked using analog equipment from the 1970s, and many of the subtleties of hugely layered Front 242 songs either wind up blaring too loudly or being completely subdued.
After a 4+ year break from touring, Front 242 shocked many of their older fans this year by touring with a highly modernized version of their live show, having updated many of their songs with breakbeat rhythms and pounding bass.
