Opening with the Doctor, John Pertwee, materializing the Tardis in a starship to avoid collision, "Frontier in Space" is the first half of a space opera that ends on a cliffhanger leading into "The Planet of the Daleks" (1973).
Ranging from deep space to Earth and Draconia, from a lunar penal colony to the Ogron home world, the Doctor discovers that the Master (Roger Delgado in his final performance in the role) is set to plunge the galaxy into chaos.
In "Frontier In Space" this did not seem to be the case.

 Outpost Gallifrey: Reviews
Frontier In Space has the dubious distinction of being the only serial of Doctor Who that my sister has watched all the way through, and that was only because she was too ill to move.
'Frontier in Space' marks the final appearance of the Roger Delgado Master, due to Delgado's tragic death shortly afterwards.
Unfortunately, the ending of Episode Six of 'Frontier in Space' is horribly edited, so that this effect is rather lost; the Master loses off a shot at the Doctor and wounds him, but then vanishes.

 New Frontier in Space
Russian space officials decided to bring the 15-year-old Mir down from space because of deteriorating conditions and outdated technology aboard the space station, which has been vacant and mold-infested for about a year.
By the end of its life, Mir had become so rife with technical problems that the cosmonauts onboard had to abandon most of their research to make continuous repairs to the station.
Such research is necessary if humans are ever to explore other planets or remain in space for extended periods of time.
