I very much doubt that you want to use collision at all for visiblity testing - it's bound to be much slower than a frustrum vs (ideally hierarchical) primitive test.
So in that case special handling will still be required for collisions with the frustrum geometry.
You could even consider using a large sphere geometry that fits exactly around your intended frustrum, since it's meant only for fast culling of definitively non-visible objects, and sphere geometries are very effecient to check collisions against.

This does affect how the application is linked against Parasolid in order to obtain a correct runtime match between the application's Frustrum and the Parasolid stubs, ie, for the parasolid_test.c program, the behaviour of the example frustrum.lib and fg.lib.
We choose to always register all our example routines: when linking against the archive library cc parasolid_test.c frustrum.lib fg.lib parasolid.lib or cc parasolid_test.c frustrum.o fg.o parasolid.lib then our routines are preloaded into the image and the stubs in parasolid.lib are never required - the registry does occur but nothing in Parasolid then uses the registration.
When linking against a standalone image cc parasolid_test.c frustrum.lib fg.lib parasolid.so or cc parasolid_test.c frustrum.o fg.o parasolid.so then both the example routines and the Parasolid stubs are loaded, the stubs being hidden in the image and performing immediate transfer to the active code from the example libraries.

If it is, you continue to traverse the quadtree until you find an AABB that is not in the frustrum.
Level of detail is not as easy, however, due to you having to check distance to each object in all visible frustrum nodes.

There would be hints within each tile that would tell the frustrum culling algorithm whether to avoid certian tiles because there is a block floor, wall, ceiling or some other plane - basically the plane information would be stored and the culling algorthim would work with that.
Since the frustrum culling algo would work near to far, the rendering would be roughly front to back.
Hopefully an Octree allows you to find inside view frustrum nodes fast, which works for your fast locality change, however I don't see how you could handle slow locality change for terrain, and I'm not sure making the difference is usefull...

I'm using a mesh that acts like a skybox; in other words, its a large cube around the player that moves with the player and shows the sky in the distance.
In theory, I thought I could set my frustrum very high, render my skybox, then set the frustrum down to reasonable level to only include the stuff I want the player's vision to include.
If I keep the frustrum as a given amount, my fog shows up fine but setting the frustrum to always be at 10000 results in a massive drop in FPS and I don't want the players to be able to see the landscape that far away anyway.

Workaround: Have something of a workaround for the earlier mentioned error where Havok won't create a rigid body from an object outside the camera frustrum (very very weird).
The error actually goes away if you park another camera that can see the objects and render it to a small window.
I'll need to fog up the second camera so it falls in with the background color and then remove it after the entire object is built.

There are lots of different parameters used by a frustrum, or a camera.
I also store the frustrum vertices (in world space), because they can be used for a faster polygon vs frustrum test.
In addition to the standard frustrum culling, I also have 'cone' culling, which is useful in some situations.

A problem that I have is that the frustrum is not 2D and so the bounding XY box size
I took the vector example I gave you from my own particlesystem, which sorted the particles so that the particle that has the longest distance from the camera's viewing direction is rendered first (particle == target).
This is for the actual check whether the target is in fact within the viewing frustrum.

because its in space objects can be at vastly varying distances from the camera so the frustrum has to be huge to acomodate them all.
The problem is that when the camera's distance to each of these objects changes the objects appear to fluctuate.
but when i reduce the frustrum size from 60,000 units to a mere 400 units the anomaly is gone, but the problem is that only objects within a distance of 400 units are visible, my planets which are vastly farther away are now beyond the frustrum and hence invisible.

OpenGL draws the entire scene before anything else, THEN it proceeds to apply modelview transformations and THEN it applies perspective transformations.
You have to apply tricks in order to create a spherical frustrum.
Also you cannot have a spherical frustrum because it's not supported in the hardware or through OGL.

ClonefromMember: I got a bug that has been mentioned here before about some objects generated with clonefrommember needing to be in the camera frustrum to register as rbs.
