		Fu Jen Catholic University was founded in 1925 in Beijing by the Benedictines of St. Vincent Archabbey of Latrobe Pennsylvania, USA under the name Fu Jen Academy.
		Fu Jen was re-established in Taiwan, beginning with the Graduate School of Philosophy, in 1961.
		In 1963 Fu Jen Catholic University opened its Hsinchuang campus under the joint administration of the Chinese Diocesan Clergy, the Society of the Divine Word, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and the Society of Jesus.

		A set of the complete works of Archbishop Stanislaus Lokuang of Taipei, an influential Catholic academic and missionary on the island of Taiwan, has been donated to Boston College by Fu Jen Catholic University of Taiwan.
		Archbishop Lokuang, born in 1911 in the Hunan province of China and ordained a priest in 1936, served as head of the Taipei Archdiocese from 1966 to 1978, and was a professor and rector at Fu Jen Catholic University from 1963 to 1993.
