Fugazi is the second studio album of the progressive rock band Marillion.
It was released in 1984 and was the first album with Ian Mosley on drums.
The album was produced under difficult circumstances, with the band employing and ejecting a number of drummers in quick succession following the departure of Mick Pointer, before finally settling on Ian Mosley.

Fugazi (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fugazi's music blends elements of punk rock, hardcore, soul and noise with an inventively syncopated rhythm section often steeped in dub or reggae influence.
Fugazi's unusual experimental sound influenced some later punk music groups, and has proven difficult to categorize neatly; they've been classified as post punk and post-hardcore.
Fugazi are currently on what the band describes as a "hiatus," partly brought on by the recent forays into fatherhood by Canty and Lally, and may or may not reunite in the future.

Fugazi - Satan Stole My Teddybear
Fugazi simply shredded away many of the pretenses found within hardcore and punk and created a unique sound that made the most of the band's cumulative talents.
Fugazi helped redefine the "post-punk" genre as well as inspire multitudes of bands to approach their guitars in a completely different manner.
While Fugazi has been a bit more sporadic in their touring and album releasing schedules, they certainly cannot be faulted for putting out subpar material for the sake of having another release out.

Fugazi’s first two e.p.’s and seven inch, while not having been granted the monumental status of their later full length albums, are essential listening for anyone interested in the band.
Fugazi didn’t stop caring about writing quality material or assembling great albums, they simply stopped caring about the external forces – their recorded past, outside expectations, consideration of how new music will be received – that make recording so difficult.
Fugazi then proceed to sew an extended ending onto the seat of the song that is virtually unrelated to the rest of the song.

Yet those are the shoes in which Fugazi has stood now for more than a decade, producing pure, high-intensity punk rock of rare intelligence and artistry without any concession to the tug of commercialism or the internal tensions that usually cause such high-minded organizations to implode.
The title track, which is indicative of the album, offers a more powerful three-minute burst than anything on the first two records: a dizzying bassline, speedy, powerful drumming and a repetitive squeal that is barely recognizable as guitar.
Although the album hardly supports its assertion, "Target" gets into what may be bugging the band: the song holds the proliferation of predatory commercial generation-rockers responsible for exploiting innocents and generally spoiling things.

Our second album was to be aptly named ‘Fugazi' (all fucked up, all screwed up), which was a word I'd found in a book called ‘Nam' - a collection of reminiscences from veterans of the Vietnam war, put together by Mark Baker.
The album cover was one of the few constituent parts that was together and on time.
‘Fugazi', the title track was inspired by a journey on the Piccadilly line from Earls Court where I lived in a flat for a while with my girlfriend, to the Marquee Club where I lived during the night.

Marillion's second album, Fugazi is considered by most of fans to be the worst of the Fish era recordings, due to the incohesiveness of the tracks, and the "dated" murky sound.
The recent remasters have improved the sound quality, but for some reason the album seemed a bit too dramatic from the Fish side of things, "She Chameleon" is a case in point, not a bad song in matter of fact it's an excellent song, but kind of too dramatic.
The break up-theme from the title track of the first album is taken to extremes on this one so if you're looking for something uplifting and peppy maybe this is not the best place to look.

Fugazi has long been one of my all-time favourite bands, but on End Hits I thought that they got a bit too jammy and forgot that they can write really great songs.

It's unfortunate that a band so forward looking as Fugazi has been criticized over and over for not remaking "Waiting Room" or "Repeater." Some have called them sellouts, regardless of the band's integrity and class, while others consider them elitists, "guiding" the Washington, D.C., scene.
Being both ear-shattering and spine-tingling at once, this is Fugazi at their "musical" best.
Gentle with sense of swagger, these songs lack none of the power that the band is known for, while the two-drum assault of "Ex-Spectator" (courtesy of Brendan Canty and second drummer Jerry Busher) has just as much potency on disc as it does live.

When Fugazi first appeared, in the late Eighties, they willfully deconstructed their Washington, D.C., hometown-punk aesthetic.
Where hardcore legends like Minor Threat (which featured Fugazi singer and guitarist Ian MacKaye) strived to break three-chord land-speed records, Fugazi took the slow road, investigating reggae-influenced riddims and a post-punk guitar iconoclasm that recalled Gang of Four and Sonic Youth.
Fugazi seem aware of their formalism – they've even named a song "Arpeggiator," an instrumental that unapologetically revels in Televisionstyle six-string acrobatics.
